Merritt Island, FL (November 02, 2015) – Between the Motocross and Supercross seasons, several riders will head overseas to take on Europe’s best talent, and this weekend that race was held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. BTOSports.com’s Justin Brayton joined other top American talent like Weston Peick, Malcolm Stewart, Phil Nicoletti and Mike Brown for the inaugural running of this event – and when the weekend was over, Brayton was crowned the champion.
The track size was smaller than the standard SX tracks in America, which might have favored Brayton, who is the 2004 United States Arenacross Rookie of the Year and 2009 King of Bercy, another AX style event held annually in France. The scoring was also a bit different with points awarded for head-to-head bracket racing, qualifying and hot laps. Brayton’s third overall on night one combined with his overall win on night two, plus his additional points as fastest qualifier and hot lap leader, was enough to crown him with the King of Sofia title.
“I think it’s great whenever our athletes win… especially when they go overseas,” explained David Kimmey, owner of CycleLogic Products, manufacturer of Engine Ice. “Racing is racing, and we’re happy to be part of the BTOSports.com team and a proud sponsor of Justin.”
